Super Bowl, NBA All-Star, Brandon Inge, Daytona 500 and more…
Well it’s my first official post of the year so let’s start with the Super Bowl this Sunday. It’s the New England Patriots versus the New York Giants. I for one thought Green Bay would be tougher for New England. I really enjoy the fact that the Giants think they can win against a superb Patriots team. I don’t care for the Patriots because of their antics but I do respect their ability and believe they will win the Super Bowl in blow out. For me the Super Bowl will be another reason to go out and party because I have no interest in watching it.
The NBA All Star game is coming soon as well. The starters have been announced and they are follows:
Eastern Conference- Jason Kidd, Dwayne Wade, Kevin Garnett, Lebron James, and Dwight Howard
Western Conference- Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Carmelo Anthony, Tim Duncan and Yao Ming.
Personally I would have liked to see Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton voted in as the starters because their team is doing better. What are the Nets and Heat doing? Absolutely Nothing. I hate the fans who vote in their favorites and not the people who deserve to be there. If it were me the whole Eastern Conference would be all Pistons and Celtics they are the only ones doing anything.
Chris Webber is back and with his original team in the Golden State Warriors. I like that. It’s cool that he is going back where he started even though I liked him better as a Piston. I wish him all the luck in the world though especially after the Warriors incredible run last year.
I found out that Brandon Inge will be the backup catcher. Apparently he is not happy about it and I wouldn’t be either. He is a great talent who should be on a different team playing full time. He is too much of a talent to be sitting on the bench. For his sake please trade him. It’s the only fair thing to do.
The Daytona 500 is coming soon as well. The favorite in my mind for the 2008 NASCAR season is Dale Jr. He has a lot to prove with his new team. Hendricks Motorsports could easily win half of the races this year. Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, and Dale Jr. will be racing for the championship this year.
I have heard talks of a rematch between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. I personally think that De La Hoya got robbed and no one can say any different. The judges clearly were favoring Mayweather from the beginning before the fight began. De La Hoya will win if it happens again. Mayweather has also been talking about getting into MMA/UFC. If he got into UFC he wouldn’t stand a snow ball chance in hell of surviving. Kind of like Brock Lesnar in UFC.
Yes Brock Lesnar is making his UFC Debut this Saturday against Frank Mir. Talk about a tough opponent to have your first match against. I think Brock should have stayed in WWE or at least go to TNA. He will get knocked out this Saturday.
WWE debut in HD last week and I must say it’s pretty cool to see. I especially enjoyed the DX entrance this past Monday. I think WWE in HD is only going to get better as the year goes on. Speaking of WWE, rumor has it that WWE might be NBC instead of USA because it is so successful in the ratings.
After a lengthy absence WWE is bring back the Elimination Chamber. It is one of the most brutal structures that wrestling has ever seen. I remember the first one that Shawn Michaels won. It was a classic. At WWE’s No Way Out PPV there will be two elimination chamber matches.
RAW Elimination Chamber Match
Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho vs. JBL vs. Umaga
SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match
Big Daddy V vs. The Great Khali vs. Finlay vs. MVP vs. The Undertaker vs. Batista
At the end of this post will be a clip of all the Elimination Chamber matches to show how brutal it can be.
In some entertainment news, Vince McMahon was on Celebrity Apprentice last week and showed a different side to him. He was a good judge of all the contestants. I personally enjoy watching Lennox Lewis and Tito Ortiz on the show. I am hoping one of them wins this competition.
American Gladiators is turning out to be a great show with fierce competition each week. Hulk Hogan maybe not the best announcer in the world but his name alone adds value to the show. Kind of funny the American Gladiators old announcer Mike Adamle is a WWE announcer on Raw now. A bit of irony there but it is all good
Finally, a new series of Surreal Life is coming back soon, and this time it will feature two familiar names. The two names would be Dennis Rodman and The Macho Man Randy Savage. No date has been set yet for its return to TV. Both Rodman and Savage were both members of the n.w.o. in WCW. Should make for interesting TV.
Well Ladies and Gents, until next time. Keep it real and be safe on the roads. God Bless.
