A Great Night for a Fight
Last night their were to types of fighting on. You had MMA and boxing and in my opinion they were both great. Lets start with the boxing side of it. Yes Floyd Mayweather won but he did not knock out Juan Marquez. It actually went the distance and Mayweather won by unanimous decision. To me it doesn’t matter who Mayweather fights because until he fights Manny Pacquiao no one cares who he beats. When he finally squares off against Manny and actually beat him it will only be then that Mayweather will have some of my respect as well as others who really don’t like him.
Then you had UFC 103 which had some good fights but main even almost made it a flop. Junior dos Santos and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic went at it pretty good until Mirko got hit in the eye and forfeited the fight. My favorite part of the night was watching Josh Koscheck beat down Frank Trigg. I have never liked Trigg and as far as I am concerned he can go back to TNA and be Kurt Angle’s twin. Tyson Griffin vs. Hermes Franca was a really good fight too and Griffin looked good against a guy that everyone has a hard team beating. It was definitely the second best fight of the night. Then Vitor Belfort made his return to the UFC in very convincing fashion by taking out Rich Franklin in the first round. It was good to see Belfort return but that was not a main event match. I’ve come to realize that Rich Franklin does not draw pay-per-view buys. UFC 104 is next month and the main event happens to be A Light Heavyweight Championship bout between Lyoto Machida (c) against Mauricio Rua.
I enjoyed all the fighting that did take place last night. I do think that boxing had more viewers and more pay-per-view buys. I’ll be curious to see what the numbers are when they come out. For now though UFC is still the dominant sport and they have some great PPV’s coming up. Keep checking back for further updates on UFC event.s
