Shaq VS. Concludes
So this past week was the final week of Shaq versus and I must say the last two weeks have been interesting and different. Two weeks ago Shaq challenged boxing legend Oscar de la Hoya to a boxing match. The handicap was that there would four two-minute rounds with a one-minute fifth round. Also both men wore protective headgear. In the end it was Oscar de la Hoya winning by unanimous decision. This was one the funnier things I’ve seen because of the size comparison. It made for great TV.
Then this week Shaq challenged swimming icon and Olympic gold medal Michael Phelps to a series of races. There were three races and Shaq had handicaps in all three. In race one Shaq only had swim 25m while Phelps had to swim 50m with a 5s. head start. In race two Shaq had some help from Dana Vollmer, Rebecca Soni, and Ariana Kukors and they all saw 50m each of a 200m medley relay, while Phelps had to swim by himself for the 200m medley. And in race three Shaq only had to swim 50m while Phelps had to swim 75m. Michael Phelps won two out of three races proving why he is great and why he is the face of swimming as we know it.
I really enjoyed this six week series. I really enjoy the concept of someone trying to compete in other sports after being so successful in his own sport. I hope next summer we Shaq versus once again and this time have him compete in Golf, Mixed-Martial arts and Tennis. That would be so cool. Good luck to Shaq and the Cleveland Cavaliers this year. The NBA season is not that far away.
