Gilbert Arenas Pleads Guilty
Yesterday NBA Star Gilbert Arenas from the Washington Wizards pleads guilty to carrying a pistol without a license in Washington DC which is a felony. He pleaded guilty to see if he could get a deal but if the judge wants to be harsh he could sentence Arenas anywhere from six months to five years. If you have ever watched Gilbert Arenas like I have in the past, he does not seem like a guy who would break the law. He’s always vibrant, smiling and upbeat while on the court and when he’s around his fans. Of course a lot of people thought Plaxico Burress was a good guy too. Arenas should have learned from Plaxico’s mistakes. Now his future with the Wizards and the NBA is in serious jeopardy and he could be losing millions because of this monumental mistake.
When are these athletes going to learn that just because they are superstars, they can’t break the law. If they are so worried about protecting themselves that’s why you hire a bodyguard or two. Gilbert Arenas has not only screwed himself over, he has screwed over his teammates and the whole Washington Wizards organization. He is their franchise player and now they are without him. Ticket sales are down as well because no one wants to see a team without their biggest star. His sentencing is March 26th and until then he is free. At this rate with the all the gun problems on the Wizards team, they should just go back to being called the Washington Bullets like they use to. It would the teams personality so much better. Stay tuned for more on this situation.
