Yzerman Leaves Detroit for Tampa Bay
If you’re Detroit Red Wings hockey fan, the one person you’ve always indentified with for the last twenty years is Steve Yzerman. Stevie Y played for the Red Wings from 1983 to 2006 and has been in the front office since his retirement. He became captain of the team in 1986 and is the longest serving captain of in NHL history. Stevie Y accomplished so much in Detroit as a player and even as team President. He was also the Executive Director for the Canadian men’s hockey team that won the Gold Medal this year in the Olympics.
Stevie Y was the face of Detroit sports for a long time and now he’s moving to the Tampa Bay Lightning as the team’s GM. There is no doubt he will make the team better. Tampa’s gain is Detroit’s loss. Stevie Y thanks for all you have done to help Detroit become a great sports town and thanks for bring four Stanley Cups to Detroit.
