Court McGee Wins the Ultimate Fighter
Last night was a fun night to watch the UFC. It was the Ultimate Fighter Finale of Team Liddell and Team Ortiz (which eventually became Team Franklin for 2 weeks). All the fights were excellent. The first fight of the evening was Jamie Yager vs. Rich Attonito. I love Yager but he got dominated and lost in the 2nd round. I was very disappointed in his performance. Hopefully he’ll be able to come back and redeem himself.
The second fight of the evening was Spencer Fisher vs. Dennis Siver. It was a good fight that went back and forth but in the end Siver defeated Fisher by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).
One of my favorite fighters from the orginal Ultimate Fighter was on and that was Chris Leban. He is one of the biggest hot heads ever but he’s a good fighter when he puts his mind to it. He took on Aaron Simpson and beat him down to win in the second round.
The best fight of the night was Matt Hamill vs. Keith Jardine. Both men were bloodies, battered and bruised. I really enjoyed this fight and I am sure everyone watching did. Hamill won by majority decision (29-27, 29-27, 28-28). It should be noted that Keith Jardine did have one point deducted for an accidental eye poke. Other then that, the fight could have gone either way.
The Main Event of the evening was the two finalists. It was Court McGee vs. Kris McCray. I thought McCray was going to win but I was wrong. McGee won by submission in the 2nd round to become the new Ultimate Fighter. He was very emotional after the fight and thanked everyone who supported him. It was a great way to end the night.
Next season of the Ultimate Fighter will be The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck. This season will feature lightweights a division that definitely needs some bulking up. The seasons starts September 15, 2010 so stay tuned for more.
