Recap and Review of ICW The Pit 4 (Fenton, Michigan)
I’ve often said that Michigan is very overlooked when it comes to pro wrestling talent, but over the last several months many eyes across the independent wrestling scene have started to look in Michigan’s wrestlers. Bigger name independents are wanting to do business and get the best Michigan has to offer. Tonight, was the was perfect example as ICW No Holds Barred brought the Deathmatch Circus to Fenton, Michigan. It’s a two-day event featuring some of toughest professional wrestlers across the country. The focus for me was The Pit 4, because it featured some of the absolute best from Michigan. It once again showed that Michigan can be premier destination for professional wrestling and that Michigan has talent that should be getting booked across the country. Let me take on you on a journey through The Pit.
Aaron Orion vs. Aaron Williams
What a great way to start the show with the leader of the Death Threat Army Aaron Orion and Aaron Williams. Both are well established wrestlers and many people have been waiting for this collision. This was an absolute slugfest from the very beginning. Williams took some of Orion’s best shots and ended up coming back. It was a knockout kick from Williams that ended up getting him the victory against Orion. If you didn’t know before this match, you now know that the Death Threat Army are one of the most popular factions in the Midwest. Orion stepped out of his comfort zone tonight and proved he’s as tough as they come. If you’re not familiar with Orion, then look him. He and the rest of Death Threat Army are hitting on a cylinders as of late.
Winner: Aaron Williams
Isaiah Broner vs. Justin Kyle
When this match was made months ago, I knew it was going to be a hoss fight. Broner and Kyle are two of the heaviest hitters I’ve seen in a long time. I would not want counter either man in a dark alley if you catch my drift. They didn’t need weapons because they just used their fists and brute strength. Kyle took a beating from Broner throughout the match, which included him being busted open. Bloody mess and all, Justin Kyle was able to secure the victory, but gave props to Broner and said he belongs in ICW. I have a feeling this won’t be the last time you see these two face each other.
Winner: Justin Kyle
The Carver vs. Satu Jinn
If you want to talk about different personalities this was the match for it. Carver is one of the craziest clowns I’ve ever seen. He really brought the fight to Satu Jinn including using an ax during the match. However, Jinn is one of the toughest customers around. He was using blades of his own to inflict some serious damage. This match felt like a horror movie and in the end, Satu Jinn ended up being the winner monster of the match. The crowd absolutely loved The Carver and want him to come back.
Winner: Satu Jinn
Hoodfoot vs. Tank
One of the things I love about ICW is the hoss fights. They have many hosses including Tank and Hoodfood. We had a little bit of everything in the match. This match left both men bloody and battered. They were slicing, dicing, and carving each other up. The crowd was solidly behind Hoodfoot, but the veteran Tank was able to get the victory with vicious stomps on a chair to the head of Hoodfoot. I think you’re going to see Hoodfoot around for a very long time with his toughness and popularity with the fans.
Winner: Tank
Brandon Kirk vs. Darren McCarty
Brandon Kirk had a lot of guts trying to poke fun of the legend Darren McCarty. Kirk was not well received by the Michigan crowd, but who would be when he was taking on a Detroit Red Wings legend. Darren has not had many matches, but his toughness has made up for it. He brought the fight tonight when provoked multiple times. Kirk wore a Devils jersey then reveleaed a custom Avalanche history. If you know you’re hockey history, you know that the Red Wings and Avalance had one of the biggest brawls in NHL history. This fired up McCarty and sent him into a rage. Unfortunately, outside interference was too much for McCarty to handle and Kirk ended up winning with a roll up.
Winner: Brandon Kirk
Tommy Vendetta vs. John Wayne Murdoch
This match was for the American Deathmatch Championship. This was not the first time these two have met. They have faced each other in some brutal matches and even though Murdoch has years of experience, Vendetta has hung tough with him each time they have squared off. These two were dishing out all sorts of punishment to each other. I don’t I’ve ever seen a piledriver on a bed of razors before. That’s how unique they were getting with the violence they were producing. The match could have gone either way, but in the end, it was a brutal brainbuster through a chair that allowed Murdoch to get the victory. After the match, he gave props and respect to Vendetta for being there.
Winner: John Wayne Murdoch retains the American Death Match Champion
This was an amazing show from bottom to top. It was another great show that highlighted some of the best Michigan has to offer. It was also cool to see some familiar faces in the crowd which included Adam Wick and Jack Price who were there support their fellow Death Threat Army brothers. I also saw Hardcam Frio and Death Threat Army’s biggest fan sitting front row. This was another great night for Michigan, and I personally hope this is not the last time ICW comes to Michigan. The Wrestling World is starting to take notice of Michigan and the talent that it has. It’s a slow work in progress, but Michigan isn’t going to be overlooked much longer. Tonight, ICW helped add to that progress and I for one am grateful that they did.
