The NFL Equals CourtTV

Yesterday one of the NFL’s all time greats, Lawrence Taylor was arrested on charges of raping a 16 year old girl at a New York hotel. Taylor has had a troubled past since leaving the NFL but this could be the lowest thing he has done yet. Taylor’s attorney denied up and down that Taylor did not sleep or rape anyone. This is just another act by a football player making football look bad. This is not the only incident this offseason with football.

Look at Ben Roethlisberger who had all of his difficulties this season. He is suspended for 6 game sand he wasn’t even found guilty. Ben, a lot like Taylor has a lot of work to do to repair his image. I don’t think Taylor will ever repair his image but Ben still has a chance to do so.

It doesn’t stop there. The saga with Minnesota’s Kevin Williams and Pat Williams had an interesting turn yesterday. A Minnesota judge ruled in favor of the NFL yesterday saying that the NFL has a right to now suspend both men for taking performing enhancing drugs. The reason the suspension was blocked for so long is because the NFL broke state law and failed to notify both men of their test results within three days after test is given. So it will be interesting to see what happens next with this case.

Then there is the case of Santonio Holmes who faces no criminal charges but is suspsended for four games due to violating the drug policy. He was traded from Pittsburgh to the New York Jets. Santonio Holmes is a Super Bowl MVP and hopefully he gain recapture what he did in Pittsburgh.

To end on an interesting side note, Adam “Pacman” Jones is back in the NFL. Here is a guy that’s been suspended multiple times and has been in a lot of trouble in his career. The Bengals signed him to a two year deal and I hope that he doesn’t screw up again.

Lately the NFL has seemed like CourtTV with all the allegations, suspensions and trouble being caused by players. The NFL in my mind has a horrible reputation right now. I don’t know of any other sport who has more troubled athletes. It’s ridiculious and it’s crazy to see that many people get in trouble. Hopefully the NFL can clean up their image and make sure their players stay in line.
