Johnny Damon Signs with the Detroit Tigers
Finally after many months of not being with a team Johnny Damon has signed with the Detroit Tigers. The deal is apparently a 1 year deal worth eight million dollars. Damon has filled void when the Tigers lost Curtis Granderson and Marcus Thames. Although Damon is 36 years old he still has a lot to prove in my opinion. Look at his career stats so far.
Batting average- .288
Hits- 2425
Home runs- 207
Runs batted in- 996
Runs scored- 1483
Stolen bases- 374
He is also a time All-Star selection (2002, 2005) ands a two time World Series champion (2004, 2009). He definitely will make the Tigers better offensively. I really look forward to seeing Damon in a Tigers uniform and I know he make some great contributions to the team. Hopefully he brings back the caveman look he once had in Boston. Spring Training is here, and I cannot wait for some baseball. Time to play ball.
Joey, this is probably the only time that I will respond to your blog. You, are nuts! Who did the Tigers get rid of..to land Damon? You still think Damon has something to prove at 36? Recheck his stats and what he has done.
It was the most stupid thing Detroit has done….to save a buck! I talked to C.C. the other day. Hell, he would come out of retirement for 8 mill to and he's 40!
Wallace, you can't honestly tell me that Damon doesn't have a chip on his shoulder after being let go by the team he won a World Series with this last year. He contributed just as much as everyone else did.
