Colts vs. Saints at Super Bowl XLIV
Yesterday was an crazy day for football. A lot of excitement, controversy and surprises. I’d like to start out talking about the AFC Championship Game. I was really surprised how well the Jets came out swinging and played in the first half. I think they have had a lot of confidence after beating the Bengals and Chargers in the past two weeks. However Peyton Manning and the Colts played when it mattered and that’s in the second half. Peyton did a really great job bringing his team back in the 2nd half of that game. As much as I don’t like the Colts they earned their way into the Super Bowl and deserve to be there. I also want to give my congrats to the New York Jets who had a good season and are only going to get better. They shouldn’t be ashamed of what they did this year because going up against the Colts is a tough challenge and they did exceptionally well. The Colts are moving on to Miami.
Before I get in to my rant I will say this. The fumbles and interceptions really did hurt the Vikings but officiating in that game was horrible. The officials gave that game away in overtime. If you look at the game from a statistics point of view, Minnesota was better the New Orleans in everything except turnovers. I am so disgusted with officiating in that game right now that I really have no interest to watch the Saints in the Super Bowl. I would also like to add is Brett Favre is the greatest QB to ever play the game. No one could have ever survived the beating he took last night and still kept going. I’ve never seen anyone take that kind of beating in a football game and kept on going. Brett Favre you’re the man, and it’s too bad he won’t be in the Super Bowl because he had his best year ever statistically and fortunately for him he signed a two year contract so he might come back next year. Stay tuned for that.
So it’s Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints in Miami for all the marbles. It’s going to be Manning vs. Brees. I believe that Colts have a lot of confidence in what they did whereas New Orleans has to realize that the officials helped them out tremendously. I believe the Colts will rise to the top again and become Super Bowl Champions. Peyton Manning will be Super Bowl MVP and the Colts will have won their 2nd championship in four seasons. February 7th, the biggest game of the year will take place with two high powered teams and only one of them can win. Tune in to find out on February 7th to see who becomes Super Bowl Champion.
Don't worry guys, it's too weeks till the Superbowl… I'm sure we will see HWOO jumping on the Who Dat bandwagon before the games kicks off!!! Joey – you better bust out the Brees jeresy and Saints cap at work now…..
What a great game last night!!! Man did I love seeing Brett take that beating – and to cap it off, he pulls out OLD Brett Favre and throws away a sure field goal attempt (if he would have scrambled for a few yards in the last seconds of regulation) They would have won the game – Classic Brett Favre – throwing away the NFC Championship. This is actually the reason why I dropped Favre from #1 on my list of All time Great QB's. Put Manning or Montana in that same situation and they come through with the win – Favre does not – and he has proved this on more than one occasion (meaning you can't say it was a fluke). Thank goodness that it was with Minnesota and not GB this time!!!
As of the officiating, My initial thinking was that the Queens got robbed by the refs….But upon further analysis, actually the QUEENS GOT FAVRED. The refs were bad for both teams, calls that should have been made and calls that were not made. The bottom line is that the Queens gave up (at the least) 6 points by turning the ball over inside the 20 yard line 2 times. And 12 men in the huddle with 19 seconds to go to put you out of field goal range for the winning attempt – that's just unacceptable – especially in a Championship game. Then Classic Brett throws away any chance of winning with that horrendous pick.
Doesn't everyone know that TAILS NEVER FAILS – why would the Queens call Heads for the OT coin toss??? I can't argue the 4th down spot – it looked like a good call to me. I can't argue the P.I. the defender was not playing the ball and there was some contact.. The 3rd down catch to put the Saints into field goal position looked like it was bobbled, but was inconclusive…. The bottom line is that the Queens should have never let it get to OT – but the NO Voodoo Boogaloo took over and we just saw Brett's last hoorah. GO PACK GO – the Favre-less NFC North is yours next year!!!
