A New Opponent for Tito Ortiz at UFC 106
It was announced a few weeks ago that Mark Coleman will not be fighting Tito Ortiz at UFC 106 in Tito’s return match. Tito Ortiz is now facing Forrest Griffin. This is not the first time they have fought. They fought at UFC 59: Reality Check and Tito won by by split decision with scores of 30-27, 28-29, 29-27. I remember watching this fight and it was a classic. I thought Griffin won but the judges did not see it that way. Forrest Griffin has not been seen or heard from since his embarrassing lost against Anderson Silva at UFC 101. Griffin has lost his last two fights. The other one was against Rashad Evans at UFC 92 when Griffin lost the UFC Light Heavyweight Title. Tito’s last appearance was at UFC 84: Ill Will when he lost to Lyoto Machida. Ortiz has not won a fight in three years and that was against Ken Shamrock at Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3: The Final Chapter which was on Spike TV. Both fighters have a lot to prove in this fight and I cannot wait to see what happens when they fight again. That’s not the only big match at UFC 106.
There will also a match for the UFC Heavyweight Championship between Brock Lesnar (c) and challenger Shane Carwin. A lot has been said by both men leading up to this fight but if you ask me Lesnar will win. Carwin has not fought anyone big like Mir, Couture, or Herring. Lesnar has fought all three men and beat them convincingly. It will be a one sided fight and Lesnar will easily retain his title. Some other notable fights include:
Middleweight bout: Kendall Grove vs. Jake Rosholt
Light Heavyweight bout: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Luiz Arthur Cane
This should be a very good UFC pay-per-view and I cannot wait to see it. It will be a November to remember for the UFC.
