R.I.P. Capt. Lou Albano

This morning professional wrestling lost one of it’s greatest managers to ever grace the squared circle. Capt. Lou Albano passed away at the age of 76 but on a legacy of crazy rubber band facial piercings, and loud outfits. He was also instrumental in ushering the Rock N Wrestling Connection. He had a great friendship with Cyndi Lauper, who was apart of the first Wrestlemania. Capt. Lou also starred in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show which was based on the video games that had come out. Capt Lou managed some great wrestling including:

Don Muraco
Greg Valentine
Pat Patterson
The Valiant Brothers
The Wild Samoans
Mr. Fuji
Mr. Saito,
The Executioners
The Moondogs
The U.S. Express
British Bulldogs
The Headshrinkers

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996 and took part in the first 2 Wrestlemania’s. Capt. Lou Albano was unique and definitely ahead of his time. People loved him, hated him, but more importantly the respected him. Capt. Lou Albano was just such a good guy. I’ll never forget when Capt. Lou challenged King Kong Bundy to a pie eating contest. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen in wrestling. The funny thing about it is he actually beat Bundy in the contest. The last time Capt. Lou was on WWE TV was when they had Mr. McMahon appreciation night in June 2007. Lou Albano was a celebrity in his own right and made a name for himself outside of wrestling as well. Capt. Lou Albano will always be remembered for his unique interviews, his unique fashion sense and the fact that he managed so many great wrestlers. He lived a good life and had a great career. He was Capt. Lou and he was always talking to you.
