NFL Week 5 Recap

I have to start out by mentioning the Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings and the Denver Broncos. If you would asked me a couple of weeks ago if all of these teams would have been undefeated at the end of week 5 I would have called you crazy. The Bronco’s are the biggest surprise on that list and the put all their doubters to rest this weekend when they beat New England in overtime. The Minnesota Vikings along with Brett Favre ran by St. Louis and the Giants blew out the Raiders. Next week there will be a battle of two undefeated teams and it will be the New York Giants taking on the New Orleans Saints. I cannot wait for that. The Detroit Lions actually looked good against Pittsburgh this weekend. They fell apart with five minutes to go so it’s an improvement. Finally the Carolina Panthers get a win, even though it was a sloppy win against the Washington Redskins. A win is a win and I will take it. Speaking of wins I’ll take I did pretty good in fantasy football. On my Yahoo league here is how it turned out.

Hollywood’s Rejects 203.00
The Yatchmeister 168.34

My highest point earner was Nate Burleson, WR from the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks lit up the Jaguars 41-0 this weekend. This win puts me at 2-3 which okay. It’s the not the greatest but it’s better then no one wins at all. Speaking of no wins at all, going into this week I was 0-4 in my ESPN league. However that all changed because I finally won a game. Here is how it turned out.

Hollywoods World of Sports (HWOO)(1-4) 67
Beavis’s Buttheads (joe)(2-3) 38

My highest point earner was Ricky Williams, RB from the Miami Dolphins. What a great game that was last night between the Dolphins and the Jets. It’s too bad someone had to lose because both teams played freaking insane. I have to send my sympathy’s to the Cleveland Browns who sent Braylon Edwards over last week in a trade because he was a lost cause in Cleveland. I actually should say thank you because the Jets are one of my favorite teams and Edwards made an immediate impact last night. It’s funny how a player will change once he is treated better or on a better team. However Edwards was not the only U of M alumni in this game. Chad Henne absolutely killed it last night going 20-26 with 241 yards and 2 TD’s. His passer rating was 130.4 which is pretty impressive. It was definitely an interesting week in football capped off by a great Monday Night game. I’ll be back with my predictions tomorrow.
