Results, Recap, Review of WWE NXT Takeover Brooklyn 3

Tonight was the third annual NXT Takeover Brooklyn event which has always taken place the night before Summerslam. There was a lot of hype for this event as usual and it was a special night as former NXT stars return to give their thoughts on their time and the future stars of the company. Before I give my thoughts here are the results of Takeover:

-Andrade “Cien” Almas defeated Johnny Gargano
-Sanity defeated The Authors of Pain to become the new NXT Tag Team Championships
-Aleister Black defeated Hideo Itami
-Asuka defeated Ember Moon to retain the NXT Women’s Championship
-Drew McIntyre defeated Bobby Roode to become the new NXT Champion

The first match of the night was Johnny Gargano and Andrade Almas. This match was pretty good for two guys who have never faced each other in an NXT ring. Almas doesn’t get the credit he deserves because he is a hell of a worker. It’s good to see a character change where he’s getting more aggressive. There were so many close calls in this match it really could have gone either way. This match put Gargano on the map as a singles wrestler again and made Almas look like a big threat in NXT. Gargano lost after a distraction from Vega when she threw a DIY shirt in the ring. The next match was for the NXT Tag Team Championships between Sanity and The Authors of Pain. I love these two teams. The Authors of Pain are just flat out destructive and Sanity is obviously out of control. I originally thought it was going to be Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain but Eric Young replaced Dain right at the start of the match. This match was wild and cray from the get go. At one point Nikki Cross got involved and took a bullet for the team. As a result of her sacrafice The Authors of Pain have lost the tag team championships. After the match, Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish ambushed the new and former tag team championships and made their intentions very known.

The match I was most looking forward to was Hideo Itami and Aleister Black. Both men are very hard hitting and both unique styles. One thing I liked about this pay-per-view is that there was special guest commentators for the different matches. For the tag team match Corey Graves came out and for this match Jim Ross was out. This match lived up to the hard hitting hype. It was so hard hitting that there was even some blood. I think Hideo Itami should come up to the main roster and do some damage. With Aleister Black not having lost a match yet I am waiting for him to get an NXT Title shot. Speaking of title shots, Ember Moon has been very deserving the NXT Women’s Championship for quite awhile now but tonight they didn’t pull the trigger like they should have. The match was very good but the result is not what it should have been. Either Ember Moon is getting moved up or she wins in a multi-person match. Other then my unhappiness with the result Takeover was incredible.

The Main Event was for the NXT Championship between champion Bobby Roode and challenger Drew McIntyre. I thought it was really awesome that during the video package for McIntyre that they used his old theme music in some of it. I personally loved his old music but this is a new Drew McIntrye and I like it. Bobby Roode has been really fun to watch as NXT Champion. In one years time NXT made him more of a superstar then in his ten years at TNA Impact Wrestling. I wasn’t sure how Roode would hang with McIntyre’s stiff style but he showed how tough he really is during this match. Even though Roode showed his toughness it was McIntyre who completed his comeback story by winning the title. I am so happy for McIntyre and this now makes two former 3MB members that are champion. Before McIntrye could celebrate O’Reilly and Fish came back out and set up McIntyre for Adam Cole to ambush. The boys from Ring of Honor are here and they indeed are taking over NXT which is going to be fun to watch.  NXT Takeover Brooklyn 3 was absolutely phenomenal and always it sets the bar for the main roster to do something special. Triple H really knows what he’s doing and it shows his vision is the true vision that people should be getting behind. I can’t wait for the next Takeover because the new talent that’s coming in is absolutely phenomenal. I am going to give NXT Takeover a 9 out of 10. I really have nothing  to terrible or to bad to say about it. Until next time NXT definitely took over once again!
