Road to WWE Wrestlemania 37: Week 7

This week on the Road to Wrestlemania, we were on the fast track to Fastlane and matches were made for the biggest show of the year. With three weeks left until Wrestlemania, business is starting to picking up and superstars are looking to make their mark. Here is what went down on the this week’s Road to Wrestlemania.

RAW RESULTS
Drew McIntyre defeated The Miz
Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose defeated Naomi and Lana
The New Day defeated The Hurt Business to win the Raw Tag Team Championships
Damian Priest defeated Jaxson Ryker
Asuka defeated Shayna Baszler
Riddle defeated Ali to retain the United States Championship
Bobby Lashley defeated Sheamus

THREE TAKEAWAYS FROM RAW
1. Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley are headed on a collision course and will face each other at Wrestlemania, but McIntyre isn’t the only one who should be in the WWE Championship Match. Sheamus has been a key component in McIntyre’s championship run and should be in the WWE Championship Match at Wrestlemania.
2. Out of all the things you could possibly have AJ Styles do at Wrestlemania, you put him in a Tag Team Championship against The New Day. Styles deserves to have a high profile match at Wrestlemania and instead he’s teaming with his bodyguard Omos. We have no idea what Omos can do, so this must be a big deal for him to debut at Wrestlemania.
3. Asuka returned to action this week to get her revenge Shayna Baszler, but we still have no clue who her Wrestlemania opponent is. Charlotte Flair was nowhere to be seen, but it was announced that Rhea Ripley would be making her debut on Raw this coming. If Ripley shows up to challenge Asuka, that would be a dream match for a lot of fans. After all, Ripley needs to redeem herself after last year’s Wrestlemania lost to Charlotte Flair.

SMACKDOWN RESULTS
Sasha Banks defeated Nia Jax to retain the Smackdown Women’s Championship
Rey and Dominik Mysterio defeated The Street Profits
Otis and Chad Gable defeated Rey and Dominik Mysterio
King Corbin defeated Sami Zayn
Bianca Belair and Shayna Baszler ended in a No Contest
Edge defeated Jey Uso

THREE TAKEAWAYS FROM SMACKDOWN
1. I really do not like the buildup between Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair. They should not be feuding with the Women’s Tag Team Champions. They should be feuding against each other with Sasha going back to the way she use to be. I really want to see some fireworks between these two ladies before Wrestlemania, so the match has more excitement going into it.
2. It appears that Sami Zayn is taking issue with his old friend Kevin Owens. Zayn has been saying for months how there is a conspiracy against him. When Owens wouldn’t buy into Zayn’s claims, he was met with a Helluva Kick that he didn’t see coming. A Wrestlemania match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn would be incredible. They’ve always been great as a team and opponents, so they could steal the show at the biggest show of the year.
3. The hunt for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships is on and three teams want a crack at The Dirty Dawgs. The Street Profits, Mysterios and Alpha Academy all want a shot at the champions. I believe you’re going to see a Fatal Four Way match for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships at Wrestlemania. One of the knocks on WWE is that they lack in their tag team division. I personally love tag team wrestling and would love to see it come back to the forefront. Maybe that can start at Wrestlemania.

This weekend is the Fastlane pay-per-view, which is the last major stop on the Road to Wrestlemania. A lot of things will be determined and we will have three weeks of buildup until the big show. I expect tensions to rise and things get more heated as we get closer to Wrestlemania. Check back next week for more on the Road to Wrestlemania 37.
